Photoshop Painting Demo from Class

I did a Photoshop painting class/demo showing a lot of the basic techniques I use to paint quickly. I started out with some reference collecting, then a quick layout and color key before I demonstrated creating the final painting in the class.

I made this custom brush shape to paint the mountains.

Reference gathered from internet sources.

Quick layout

Color key, working with as large a brush as possible.

Final painting done in Photoshop CS5 on an Intuos 3 tablet, about 2 hrs.

Mister Eng, expect a letter detailing my medical expenses after I visited this blog and my face exploded due to the ridiculousness of your artwork. I'm just an illustration student in NJ, so I my admiration is as valuable as a spent tampon, but there you have it! People like you remind me why I want to do what I want to do in life. Thank you sir!

ZOMG someone commented on my blog! You're hilarious, thanks for the praise! There are so many talented artists out there, I'm honored and glad I could inspire. Keep working hard, being a student isn't easy but it ends all too quickly!
